Dark teal sits in the peacock family, alongside deep purple, gold and bronze, and it is the colour that signals a designed arrangement rather than an off-the-shelf one. Deep enough to read as rich rather than bright, it holds up beautifully on large-scale commercial work and pairs unexpectedly well with gold. High-gloss ornaments are what make a wreath read from the street. The reflective surface picks up your string lights and throws them back, so a lit wreath sparkles rather than sitting flat. On a commercial frontage or a front door viewed from the kerb, that carry matters more than fine detail. Sizes are given in millimetres, as the trade uses: 60mm is roughly 2.4 inches, 80mm about 3.1 inches, and 150mm just under 6 inches. Most designers work with at least two sizes on the same wreath — a run of smaller balls to fill, and a few large ones as focal points — because a wreath decorated in a single size tends to read as flat.
