Battery-operated garland is the answer for mantels, banisters, doorways and interior columns — the places where a visible cord ruins the effect and there is no discreet route to an outlet. Mixed noble foliage combines several needle types, which is what stops it reading as obviously artificial at close range. Since interior garland is viewed from a few feet away rather than from the street, that detail matters.
