White is the most flexible ornament colour you can stock. It reads as snow against green foliage, sits comfortably in silver and blue winter schemes, and never fights whatever else is in the arrangement. For clients who want the display to stay up past Christmas, white is the colour that carries it through January without looking out of season. High-gloss ornaments are what make a wreath read from the street. The reflective surface picks up your string lights and throws them back, so a lit wreath sparkles rather than sitting flat. On a commercial frontage or a front door viewed from the kerb, that carry matters more than fine detail. Sizes are given in millimetres, as the trade uses: 60mm is roughly 2.4 inches, 80mm about 3.1 inches, and 150mm just under 6 inches. Most designers work with at least two sizes on the same wreath — a run of smaller balls to fill, and a few large ones as focal points — because a wreath decorated in a single size tends to read as flat.
