Purple is the colour clients ask for when they want something that is not what the neighbours have. It pairs naturally with silver and white for a jewel-toned scheme, and holds its own in Advent arrangements where purple carries real traditional meaning. Used as an accent among neutrals it lifts a whole wreath. High-gloss ornaments are what make a wreath read from the street. The reflective surface picks up your string lights and throws them back, so a lit wreath sparkles rather than sitting flat. On a commercial frontage or a front door viewed from the kerb, that carry matters more than fine detail. Sizes are given in millimetres, as the trade uses: 60mm is roughly 2.4 inches, 80mm about 3.1 inches, and 150mm just under 6 inches. Most designers work with at least two sizes on the same wreath — a run of smaller balls to fill, and a few large ones as focal points — because a wreath decorated in a single size tends to read as flat.
