Champagne has quietly become the default for upmarket residential and hospitality work. It reads as warm and expensive next to cream ribbon, gold accents and natural greenery, and it photographs beautifully in warm white light. Where red would shout, champagne sits back and lets the greenery do the talking. High-gloss ornaments are what make a wreath read from the street. The reflective surface picks up your string lights and throws them back, so a lit wreath sparkles rather than sitting flat. On a commercial frontage or a front door viewed from the kerb, that carry matters more than fine detail. Sizes are given in millimetres, as the trade uses: 60mm is roughly 2.4 inches, 80mm about 3.1 inches, and 150mm just under 6 inches. Most designers work with at least two sizes on the same wreath — a run of smaller balls to fill, and a few large ones as focal points — because a wreath decorated in a single size tends to read as flat.
